Wonderful product

"My customers love the wonderfully healthy minerals this kelp adds to my products. . . and I love the added color and texture I get from it. Works great in many products. . . so I am able to have a variety of items that feature this wonderful additive."

nice!

"Quality product at a great price. It produced a deep olive green, almost brownish in my CP soap. Good for those manly scented soaps!"

Smelly

"I bought this ingredient in order to experiment with color in soap. I wanted to have a whitish bar of soap with a greenish swirl, and the fragrance I had selected for the cold process soad with fresh apple pie. Well, to my surprise I got quite another smell. Yes, this kelp does in fact smell like kelp or dead and drying out seaweed! My husband asked me what I had opened up when I added this ingredient--he smelled it from across the room. Well, I let my soap dry out in the garage rather than in the house because the smell initially persisted. But months later, the dead sea weed smell went away and we were actually able to use this pretty bar of soap."

Kelp powder

"I dont recommend this for anyone unless you like the fishy type smell. If you want, you can overcome it with heavy fragrance but its just a pain to use and i always look for another option. Would not rebuy."

Q&A

Please tell me what percentage this is suggested to use in a sea clay mask recipe, and also what properties does it offer in a face mask?
This doesn't offer much in a face mask, as it is intended to be used as an exfoliant. We don't have a recommend amount for face masks, as we've only used it in soap or scrubs. You can try around 1-3%.
Can this be used in face masks?
Yes, this can be used in a face mask.
How much Kelp Powder do you add to CP soap? Per pound. Thanks
Common use levels are 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon per pound.
I would like to add kelp powder to my emulsion body sugar scrub. The formulation contains no water, only butters & oils. I would like to use a preservative, preferably paraben free, and I know that it would be taken into the shower. What preservative would be effective against bacteria, fungus & mold - in this type of formulation with the addition of the kelp? Thank you for your help. Kimberly
We suggest Optiphen Plus, which is a paraben-free preservative that will be effective against bacteria, fungus & mold.
What fragrance would you recommend for this additive?
I would suggest using a strong scent like lavender or Majestic Seas.
